The Impressive TimesThe National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has submitted a notification to the Haryana government regarding the reported operation of a patient on the incorrect knee at a hospital in Panipat. Taking suo moto cognizance of a media report, the NHRC has issued notices to the Haryana Chief Secretary and the Director General of Police, requesting a comprehensive report within one week. It further said that the report should detail the measures taken against the guilty and any potential compensation paid to the sufferer.
According to media reports, the operation was performed on the victim’s left knee rather than his afflicted right knee. According to media reports, the patient was charged by the hospital even though he was an Ayushman beneficiary.
