New Delhi, June 28, 2026: Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said that the Delhi government’s e-Office system has completed a significant milestone by processing more than 1.4 lakh electronic files and over 9.2 lakh e-receipts within its first year, marking a major transition from traditional paper-based administration to digital governance.
The Chief Minister said the adoption of the digital platform has improved the speed of decision-making, strengthened transparency, and enhanced accountability across government departments. She added that the move has helped in faster disposal of files and improved delivery of public services by enabling online processing, approvals, and official communication.
The e-Office system, which became mandatory across Delhi government departments from July 1, 2025, has emerged as a key initiative aimed at modernising administrative operations. According to the government, all 132 departments have now been brought onto the platform, with thousands of officials actively using the system for routine work.
Rekha Gupta said that the digital platform allows authorities to monitor the movement of files, track responsibilities, and review the progress of cases at every stage. This has helped reduce unnecessary delays while creating a more organised and efficient record management system.
The government stated that the number of users on the platform has grown substantially since its initial rollout. From 5,005 officers and employees across 198 departments and offices in March 2025, the system expanded to more than 15,700 active users across 235 departments and offices by June 2026.
The implementation has also been extended beyond regular government departments to public sector undertakings, boards, corporations, autonomous bodies, and educational institutions. Separate platforms have been developed to meet the administrative requirements of these organisations.
Between July 2025 and April 2026, Delhi government departments processed over one lakh e-files and more than seven lakh e-receipts. Following further upgrades to the system, thousands of additional files and receipts were handled digitally in the subsequent months, further strengthening the state’s digital workflow.
The education sector has also adopted the platform, with universities, colleges, and other institutions using e-Office facilities for official communication and administrative work. Several public sector organisations and autonomous bodies have similarly shifted towards digital processing.
Highlighting the broader objective of the initiative, Gupta said the government aims to create an administration that is quicker, more transparent, and more citizen-friendly. She said digital governance would ensure that people do not face unnecessary delays while accessing government services.
The move reflects the increasing role of technology in public administration, where digital systems are being used to improve efficiency, reduce paperwork, and strengthen accountability. The Delhi government said the expansion of e-Office will continue as part of efforts to build a modern and responsive governance framework in the capital.
