India secures a spot in the U19 Women’s T20 World Cup final

Kuala Lumpur, Jan 31 , 2025 : Defending champions India delivered a commanding performance to secure a nine-wicket victory over England in the second semifinal of the ICC U19 Women’s T20 World Cup 2025 at Bayuemas Oval on Friday. With the win, India booked their place in the final against South Africa.

India’s bowlers were exceptional, with Parunika Sisodia (3/21) and Vaishnavi Sharma (3/23) putting in stellar performances to limit England to a modest total of 113/8. Kamalini Gunalan starred with the bat, scoring a composed 56* from 50 balls, as India chased down the target with ease, finishing with five overs and nine wickets to spare.

England, after winning the toss and opting to bat first, got off to a solid start thanks to Davina Sarah T Perrin, who top-scored with 45. However, Parunika’s double strike in the fifth over left England at 37/2, and the wickets continued to fall. Aayushi Shukla played a key role in tightening India’s grip, dismissing the dangerous Perrin along with another crucial wicket.

In response, India’s openers, Kamalini and Gongadi Trisha, put together a steady 50-run partnership in just eight overs. Trisha’s departure brought Sanika Chalke to the crease, and the duo guided India to a comfortable victory.

With this dominant win, India will face South Africa in the highly anticipated final on Sunday, where both teams remain undefeated in the tournament. The upcoming clash promises to be an exciting conclusion to a thrilling U19 Women’s T20 World Cup.
