Delhi- Union Minister for Social Justice & Empowerment Dr. Virendra Kumar and Minister of State B. L. Verma met Vice President C. P. Radhakrishnan at Parliament House today to brief him on the Ministry’s activities and achievements.

During the interaction, the Vice President was informed about the Ministry’s efforts to uplift disadvantaged and marginalized groups through social, educational, and economic empowerment programmes. The discussion also highlighted flagship schemes and institutional reforms aimed at inclusive growth.

The Vice President expressed delight over the outstanding performance of Divyangjan athletes in the Paralympics and World Para Athletics Championships, describing their success as a matter of national pride. He appreciated the government’s progressive shift from a “sympathy-based” approach to one that creates real opportunities for empowerment, noting that this change has delivered visible results.

He also praised the transformation of the Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation of India (ALIMCO), recognizing it as a model of effective public sector functioning dedicated to improving the lives of persons with disabilities.
