Supreme Court Puts Haryana Officials on Notice in Gurugram Land Row

The Impressive TimesHaryana: Supreme Court of India has issued notices to multiple Haryana government officials in a contempt petition tied to an alleged failure to implement directions from its earlier ruling on unauthorised constructions.
The matter relates to a disputed 1.39-acre land parcel in Chakkarpur village in Gurugram, where the petitioner has alleged illegal structures continue to benefit from civic services despite court directives aimed at restricting such support.
A bench led by J B Pardiwala and Vijay Bishnoi reportedly sought responses from the respondents by May 17 while exempting personal appearances of those accused of contempt at this stage.
The petition, filed by Rajdarbar Iconic Venture Pvt Ltd, claims top state officials and other respondents failed to enforce the court’s December 2024 directions, which laid down stricter compliance norms for illegal constructions, including restrictions on utility connections and other approvals.
According to the plea, repeated representations seeking enforcement action yielded no result, prompting the petitioner to return to the apex court.
Legal observers say the case could carry wider implications for urban governance and accountability, particularly in regions where disputes over unauthorised development remain a recurring concern.
