Operation Sindhu: 506 Indians Safely Return Home from Israel and Iran

New Delhi, June 25 : The Government of India successfully evacuated 506 Indian nationals from Israel and Iran on June 25 as part of its ongoing Operation Sindhu, launched to ensure the safe return of citizens amid the escalating conflict between the two nations.

According to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), one flight arrived from Israel carrying 224 Indian nationals, while another landed in the early hours from Mashhad, Iran, transporting 282 Indian nationals to New Delhi. Another flight from Iran is expected to arrive later in the day.

Announcing the successful evacuation, the MEA spokesperson said in a post on X: “#OperationSindhu update: MoS Ms. Shobha Karandlaje received 224 Indian nationals who returned to India from Israel on an IAF aircraft at 10:30 Hrs on 25th June. The safety and security of Indian nationals remain a priority for the government. Till date, 818 Indian nationals have returned home from Israel as part of Operation Sindhu.

In a separate post about the flight from Mashhad, the MEA stated: “#OperationSindhu: 282 Indian nationals were evacuated from Iran on a special flight that arrived in New Delhi from Mashhad at 00:01 Hrs on 25th June. With this, 2,858 Indian nationals have been brought home from Iran.

The group from Israel arrived on a C-17 Indian Air Force aircraft, which landed at Palam Air Base in New Delhi. Meanwhile, another evacuation flight from Mashhad, Iran, is anticipated later in the day.

Launched in response to the intensifying tensions and hostilities between Israel and Iran, Operation Sindhu aims to secure the safe return of Indian nationals caught in the crisis. The Ministry of External Affairs reaffirmed its commitment to prioritising the security and well‑being of Indian citizens residing and working in conflict‑affected areas across the globe.

Through coordinated efforts between the MEA, the Indian Air Force, and relevant authorities, the operation showcases India’s strong resolve to safeguard its people and provide necessary support during emergencies. As the situation unfolds, further evacuation efforts will continue until every citizen wishing to return has been brought home safely.
