Khelo India Youth Games 2025: Bihar’s Suhani Wins Bronze, Rajasthan Dominates Track Cycling

New Delhi, May 7: Track cycling events continued with high energy on Day 2 of the Khelo India Youth Games 2025, held at Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium in Delhi. Rajasthan maintained a strong grip, clinching three gold and one bronze medal. Bihar’s daughter Suhani Kumari also made her mark by securing a bronze.

Deputy Commissioner of MCD Najafgarh, IAS Santosh Kumar Rai, graced the occasion as chief guest. He encouraged the participants and honored the winners. Also present were Bihar Labour Commissioner and CAO of Bihar Bhawan Shri Kumar Digvijay, ARC Bihar Bhawan Shri Shams Afroz, and Deputy Director of Information and Public Relations Shri Dinesh Kumar.

Rajasthan’s Harshita Jakhar Shines in Girls’ 2000m Individual Pursuit

In the 2000-meter individual pursuit for girls, Rajasthan’s Harshita Jakhar put up a stellar performance, claiming gold with an impressive average speed of 46.4 km/h. Haryana’s Bhoomika earned silver, while Bihar’s Suhani Kumari took bronze.

Rajasthan Leads Boys’ 3000m Race as Well

Rajasthan athletes also impressed in the boys’ 3000-meter individual pursuit. Sitaram Beniwal clinched gold, followed by Maharashtra’s Siddhesh Ghorpade with silver. Rajasthan added another medal to its tally with Mahaveer Saran securing bronze.

Maharashtra and Rajasthan Grab Gold in 200m Sprint

In the girls’ 200-meter sprint, Maharashtra’s Akanksha Mahatre showed remarkable agility to win gold. Kerala’s Anikshia Maria Thomas claimed silver, and Jharkhand’s Sabina Kumari secured bronze. In the boys’ event, Rajasthan’s Aditya Jakhar won gold, Jharkhand’s Vikas took silver, and Telangana’s R. Thanish grabbed bronze.

Athletes Hailed as ‘Future of the Nation’

After awarding the medals, IAS Santosh Kumar Rai addressed the gathering, saying, “These young athletes, who are bringing glory to India through sports, are the foundation of a bright future. Both government and administration are fully committed to supporting them, enabling them to raise the national flag on international platforms.”

Bronze medalist Suhani Kumari expressed her pride, saying, “This initiative by the Bihar government is commendable. My dream is to represent India at the international level, and I’m working tirelessly toward that goal.”

Athletes from across the country showcased not just talent but also discipline, dedication, and team spirit. These track cycling events are being held under this year’s Khelo India theme, ‘Khel ke Rang, Bihar ke Sang’.
