New Delhi : In a major boost to the policing infrastructure of the National Capital, the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has given Administrative Approval and Expenditure Sanction amounting to ₹653.46 crore for the execution of 26 new infrastructure projects of Delhi Police. The move underscores the Centre’s continued commitment to enhancing the operational efficiency, living standards, and gender sensitivity of the city’s police force.
The newly approved projects include the construction of 18 modern Police Station buildings, 7 Police Posts, 1 dedicated Women’s Hostel, and 180 Staff Quarters. These developments aim to provide a conducive and well-equipped working environment for personnel, while also improving residential facilities to support their welfare and readiness.
According to officials, the projects will be executed by the Central Public Works Department (CPWD), ensuring adherence to modern construction standards and efficient project delivery timelines. Once completed, the upgraded infrastructure is expected to not only improve response time and accessibility of policing services but also enhance public trust and engagement with law enforcement agencies.
The inclusion of a Women’s Hostel marks a significant step toward creating gender-sensitive workspaces within the Delhi Police, promoting inclusivity and safety for women personnel. The move is part of the government’s broader vision to strengthen internal security mechanisms while ensuring that law enforcement officers operate from infrastructure that reflects professionalism and modern capability.
The MHA’s decision comes at a time when Delhi Police continues to adapt to the city’s evolving security challenges, ranging from cybercrime and terrorism to urban law enforcement complexities. Enhanced infrastructure will facilitate better coordination, improved resource deployment, and greater morale among personnel—ultimately contributing to a safer and more secure Delhi.
The initiative is a testament to the government’s focus on infrastructural reform as a foundation for effective policing and public service delivery. With these projects, the Delhi Police is poised to advance towards a more modern, efficient, and citizen-friendly force equipped to meet the capital’s growing demands.
