New Delhi, May 3, 2026: A devastating fire in Delhi’s Vivek Vihar area early Sunday morning resulted in the deaths of nine people, including a young child, after flames engulfed a four storey residential building in Shahdara district. The tragic incident has left the national capital in shock as rescue teams battled for hours to control the blaze and save trapped residents.
Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta expressed profound grief over the tragedy and extended condolences to the bereaved families. She assured that the Delhi government is closely monitoring the situation and is committed to providing every possible assistance to victims and survivors.
In her statement, the Chief Minister confirmed that injured residents are receiving treatment at nearby hospitals while senior officials from the administration, Delhi Disaster Management Authority, fire services, and police remain actively involved in rescue and relief efforts.
