New Delhi, 8 May 2025: A meeting was held today between Union Minister for Housing & Urban Affairs and Power, Shri Manohar Lal Khattar and Delhi Chief Minister Smt. Rekha Gupta to address major issues related to urban development in the capital. The primary objective of this meeting was to accelerate solutions for key urban challenges in Delhi. During this meeting, Delhi Cabinet Ministers and senior officials of the concerned department were present.
On this occasion, Union Minister Shri Manohar Lal Khattar discussed land-related issues with the Delhi Council of Ministers and assured that all necessary facilities would soon be made available to the citizens of the capital. Addressing the media after the meeting, he stated that there was detailed and positive discussion on important topics such as affordable housing, modern urban transport systems, reforms in the power sector, and redevelopment of public spaces. He added that there was mutual agreement on resolving long-pending issues left by previous governments and swiftly implementing citizen-centric priority projects through coordinated and collaborative efforts.
He remarked that many of these problems had been ongoing for the past 15–20 years due to the inefficiency of earlier Government. However, Delhi Chief Minister Smt. Rekha Gupta has been consistently working towards resolving them for the benefit of the people. He affirmed that new policies will be introduced for Delhi’s development, and that citizens will soon start receiving the benefits.
Chief Minister Smt. Rekha Gupta highlighted that Today in-depth discussion on long-pending issues such as urban housing, modern transportation systems, land-related matters including conversion from leasehold to freehold, revision of conversion rates, JnNURM, land pooling policy, and the Delhi Land Reforms Act of 1954. She emphasized that the main goal of the meeting was to align these crucial issues in a structured direction, formulate concrete policies for Delhi, deliver relief to the public, and resolve longstanding problems.
She described the meeting as a decisive beginning towards Delhi’s development and declared, “Today marks the beginning of a new chapter in Delhi’s progress.”
The Chief Minister also noted that today’s meeting is clear proof that when central and state agencies come together on a common platform, significant strides can be made toward coordinated and effective solutions. She reiterated her government’s commitment to ensuring that every Delhiite receives basic amenities in a timely and efficient manner.
