New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday paid tribute to the soldiers who fought in the 1999 Kargil War, expressing the nation’s gratitude for their extraordinary courage and unwavering commitment to protecting India’s sovereignty.
Marking Kargil Vijay Diwas, the Prime Minister said the valour displayed by the armed forces under the most challenging circumstances remains a lasting source of pride for the country. He added that the patriotism and dedication shown by the soldiers would continue to inspire future generations.
In a post on X, PM Modi said, “On Kargil Vijay Diwas, our nation expresses gratitude to the brave soldiers for their extraordinary courage and commitment towards securing India. Their valour in the face of the most formidable conditions will forever remain a source of national pride. Their unwavering patriotism and devotion to duty will continue to inspire generations.”
Kargil Vijay Diwas is observed every year on July 26 to commemorate India’s victory in the 1999 Kargil War and to honour the sacrifice, bravery and service of the soldiers who defended the nation’s borders.
