New Delhi- A shocking incident unfolded in Jaffarpur Kalan where a 21-year-old food delivery worker was shot dead and his friend injured after an alleged altercation with a police personnel in the early hours of Sunday.
The deceased, identified as Pandav Kumar, was reportedly standing on a roadside with his friend Krishan after attending a birthday gathering when the accused, Neeraj, confronted them. According to initial findings, the confrontation escalated quickly, leading to the accused opening fire at close range.
Police said Kumar was shot in the chest while seated on a motorcycle. The bullet passed through his body and struck Krishan, who was riding pillion, causing serious injuries. Both victims were rushed to a nearby hospital, where Kumar was declared dead, while Krishan continues to receive treatment.
Sources indicated that the accused is associated with the Delhi Police, though his exact posting has not been officially confirmed. After the shooting, he allegedly fled the scene and remains absconding.
Family members of the victim have alleged that the accused was intoxicated and used caste-based remarks during the argument. They claimed the dispute began when he objected to the group standing on the road and escalated after he questioned their background.
The incident has triggered outrage among locals and the victim’s family, who gathered at the police station demanding swift action and arrest of the accused. They described Kumar as the sole breadwinner of the family and called for strict punishment.
Police have registered a case and launched a search operation to trace the suspect. Officials said a detailed investigation is underway to establish the exact sequence of events leading to the firing.
