The Impressive TimesNew Delhi, September 11, 2026: India’s growing deep-tech ecosystem is taking centre stage in the national capital as the BRICS Bharat Innovates Exposition gets underway at Bharat Mandapam on September 11–12, alongside the 18th BRICS Summit.
Organised by the Union Ministry of Education in coordination with the Ministry of External Affairs, the exposition is designed to connect Indian innovators with international investors, businesses, research institutions and other stakeholders from BRICS countries.
A total of 37 Indian deep-tech startups and ventures are participating in the exposition. They form part of the original cohort of 120 startups and ventures showcased during the first Bharat Innovates edition held in Nice, France, in June 2026.
The Delhi exposition aligns with India’s BRICS Chairship theme of “Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability.”
The event is being held alongside the BRICS Business Forum on September 11, giving participating startups opportunities to interact with CEOs, investors, industry leaders and business representatives from BRICS member countries.

The exposition also supports one of India’s BRICS Education Track priorities, focused on strengthening research, innovation and startup ecosystems.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Education Minister Pralhad Joshi and BRICS leaders are expected to visit the exposition.
Senior Indian and international delegates, along with business executives and investors from BRICS countries, are also expected to participate in the two-day event.
For the participating innovators, the event provides an opportunity to gain international visibility and explore commercial partnerships. Matchmaking and B2B interactions are being facilitated in coordination with industry bodies including FICCI, CII and ASSOCHAM.
Bharat Innovates is a national initiative of the Ministry of Education aimed at connecting India’s higher education innovation ecosystem with global stakeholders.
The programme brings together startups, higher education institutions, laboratories and research parks with companies, investors, incubators, universities, research organisations, governments and overseas alumni.
The initiative seeks to create long-term international partnerships rather than limiting engagement to individual events.
The inaugural Bharat Innovates 2026 exposition was organised in Nice, France, from June 14 to 16 as part of the India–France Year of Innovation 2026.
The event featured 120 Indian deep-tech startups and ventures across 13 thematic areas, along with 15 participating institutions, including IITs, IISc, BIRAC and iDEX.
More than 2,000 participants from 29 countries attended the three-day event. It resulted in over 30 collaboration MoUs and partnerships, while Indian startups received funding commitments worth US$254.5 million following 1,350 B2B meetings.
The latest exposition is part of the wider education-related engagements under India’s BRICS Chairship in 2026.
The Ministry of Education hosted the 13th BRICS Education Ministers’ Meeting in Bhubaneswar on August 7 and the third BRICS Senior Officials’ Meeting on Education on August 5.
The Education Ministers’ Meeting adopted a declaration covering five priority areas, including early childhood education and foundational literacy, skill development and technical and vocational education, research and innovation, mutual recognition of qualifications, and academic leadership and institutional development.
The BRICS Bharat Innovates Exposition therefore places Indian deep-tech entrepreneurship within a broader effort to expand international cooperation in education, research and innovation.
