BJP MLA’s Son Rams SUV Into 5 in Shivpuri, Booked for Rash Driving

Accused claims victims didn’t move despite honking; five injured in Karera incident

Five people were injured in a road accident in Shivpuri after an SUV allegedly driven by Dinesh Lodhi, son of BJP MLA Pritam Lodhi, crashed into a motorcycle and pedestrians in the Karera area on Thursday evening.

According to police, the incident took place around 7:30 pm when the Mahindra Thar being driven by Lodhi first hit a motorcycle carrying three man. The impact left the riders—identified as Sanjay, Ashish, and Anshul Parihar—injured, with one reported to be in serious condition. Moments later, the vehicle also struck two women walking along the same stretch of road, adding to the number of injured.

Eyewitnesses rushed the victims to a nearby hospital, where they are undergoing treatment for injuries to their head, limbs, and shoulders. Police officials confirmed that the SUV had “Vidhayak” written on it, and statements from victims indicate that Dinesh Lodhi was behind the wheel at the time of the crash.

A video circulating on social media shows the accused arguing with bystanders shortly after the incident. In the clip, he is heard questioning why people did not move aside despite him honking and using a siren, and is also seen cautioning individuals against recording him.

Following the incident, police have registered a case under Section 281 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, which deals with rash and negligent driving that endangers human life. Authorities said further investigation is underway to determine the exact sequence of events.

Meanwhile, Pritam Lodhi stated that the law should take its course and that action must be taken impartially to ensure justice for the injured.
