IAF Mirage 2000 Crashes Near Shivpuri in MP; Pilots Eject Safely

New Delhi, Feb 6, 2025: A Mirage 2000 aircraft of the Indian Air Force (IAF) crashed near Shivpuri, located in Madhya Pradesh, on Thursday during a routine training flight. According to the IAF, the crash occurred due to a system malfunction, and both pilots aboard the aircraft ejected safely.

The IAF confirmed the incident through its official social media platform X, stating, “A Mirage 2000 aircraft of the Indian Air Force crashed near Shivpuri (Gwalior) during a routine training sortie today after encountering a system malfunction. Both pilots ejected safely, and there have been no reported casualties. An inquiry has been ordered by the IAF to determine the exact cause of the crash.”

Emergency response teams quickly reached the crash site, and both pilots were promptly rescued. Thankfully, both aviators are reported to be in good health after ejecting from the aircraft, which is one of the IAF’s frontline multi-role combat aircraft used for various missions, including air defense and strike operations.

The incident took place in the vicinity of Shivpuri, which is part of the Gwalior division in Madhya Pradesh. The IAF has launched a full investigation to determine the technical and operational reasons behind the malfunction that led to the crash. The authorities have also assured that necessary precautions will be taken to prevent similar incidents in the future.
