New Delhi, May 12, 2026: The Board of Control for Cricket in India has introduced a stringent new disciplinary framework for the remainder of IPL 2026 after a series of incidents involving player misconduct, unauthorized access, and protocol violations reportedly left the board deeply concerned.
According to BCCI sources, the governing body was compelled to act following multiple uncomfortable incidents throughout the tournament, ranging from unauthorized individuals entering team hotels and player rooms to concerns over social media misuse, security vulnerabilities, and growing anti corruption risks.
The revised guidelines impose stricter controls on player movement, hotel access, family and guest interactions, team official conduct, and content creation around franchises. Measures also include stronger anti corruption monitoring, limitations on unauthorized personnel, and increased scrutiny of activities that may expose players or teams to reputational or legal threats.
BCCI officials indicated that the repeated breaches had created serious discomfort within the board, prompting immediate intervention to preserve the league’s credibility, discipline, and global image.
The crackdown is being viewed as one of the strongest mid season governance responses in IPL history, with the board signaling zero tolerance for further violations as the tournament approaches its critical playoff stages.
