DCM Shriram Signs Hybrid Renewable Energy Deal, Targets 176 MW Green Power Capacity

Company partners with Serentica Renewables for a 58 MW hybrid project in Gujarat, aiming to strengthen clean energy use and reduce carbon emissions.

New Delhi, July 18: DCM Shriram Ltd. has announced a major step towards strengthening its clean energy portfolio by entering into a strategic agreement with Serentica Renewables India 38 Pvt. Ltd. to develop a 58 MW hybrid renewable energy project for its chemical manufacturing facility in Bharuch, Gujarat.

The proposed project is expected to become operational by June 2027 and will significantly enhance the company’s renewable energy footprint. Upon completion, DCM Shriram’s total renewable energy capacity across its Bharuch and Kota facilities is projected to reach 176 MW (peak).

As part of the partnership, DCM Shriram plans to invest up to ₹105 crore in phases to acquire at least a 26% equity stake in Serentica Renewables India 38 Pvt. Ltd. The investment is intended to support the development of the project while strengthening the company’s long-term commitment to sustainable industrial operations.

The hybrid power project will combine solar energy generated in Rajasthan with wind energy produced in Karnataka, ensuring a stable supply of renewable electricity to DCM Shriram’s Bharuch chemical plant. The initiative is expected to improve energy reliability while lowering dependence on conventional power sources.

Commenting on the development, the company’s leadership said expanding the use of renewable energy is a key part of its sustainability strategy. Besides reducing its carbon footprint, the project is expected to improve operational efficiency and provide greater certainty over future energy costs.

According to company estimates, the new renewable energy facility could help prevent nearly 0.4 million tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions every year, contributing to cleaner industrial production and supporting India’s transition towards low-carbon manufacturing.

The initiative also aligns with DCM Shriram’s broader objective of building a resilient, energy-efficient, and environmentally responsible manufacturing ecosystem through increased adoption of green power.
