The Impressive TimesFaridabad : Taking a major step in the interest of sanitation workers, the Haryana government has decided to provide service security to eligible sanitation workers working on municipal rolls. It has also decided to increase the total monthly payable of eligible sanitation workers with more than 10 years of service to ₹25,560. These government decisions will provide sanitation workers with job security, as well as several important economic and social security benefits.
Vipul Goel, Cabinet Minister in the Haryana Government, said that sanitation workers are playing a vital role in keeping the state’s cities clean, healthy, and healthy. Recognizing the contribution of these workers, who perform their duties under difficult circumstances every day to strengthen the sanitation system, is the government’s priority. He said that the government has consistently addressed the workers’ legitimate demands with sensitivity and a positive approach. Cabinet Minister Vipul Goyal said that sanitation workers have been on strike for the past few days to press for their demands. The government has agreed to almost all of their demands and the process for their resolution has also been initiated. The government’s efforts are to resolve employees’ problems through dialogue and a positive environment, and to ensure the smooth functioning of the state’s sanitation system.
He said that in this direction, a decision has been made to provide service security to sanitation workers working on municipal rolls under the Haryana Contractual Employees (Assurance of Service) Act, 2024. Under this, eligible sanitation workers will have their jobs secured until the age of 60. Additionally, they will receive several other benefits, as per the provisions of the Act, like regular employees.
Cabinet Minister Vipul Goel stated that currently, sanitation workers receive ₹20,590 per month, including allowances. The government has decided to increase this amount to ₹25,560 for eligible sanitation workers with more than 10 years of service. This decision is an important step towards strengthening the financial situation of sanitation workers and ensuring a secure future for their families. He said that in addition, sanitation workers will also receive benefits such as annual dearness allowance, death-cum-retirement gratuity, maternity leave, ex-gratia financial assistance and ex-gratia appointment under the Haryana Skill Employment Corporation (HKRN). These provisions will provide long-term social and economic security to sanitation workers and their families.
The Cabinet Minister said that the government is not limited to merely listening to the demands of the workers, but is also taking concrete decisions towards practical and lasting solutions to their problems. These decisions taken in the interest of sanitation workers reflect the government’s commitment and sensitive approach to employee welfare.
He appealed to the sanitation workers to end the strike and return to work and revitalize Haryana’s sanitation system with their hard work, dedication, and responsibility. He said that sanitation is directly linked to the health, convenience, and quality of life of every citizen of the state. Therefore, the role of sanitation workers is not limited to just a job, but is directly linked to public service.
