Naman Dhir’s Blazing 88 Powers Amritsar Soormas to Seven-Wicket Win Over Fazilka Falcons

Mohali, September 3, 2026; Amritsar Soormas produced a dominant batting display to register their first victory of the Sher-e-Punjab T20 League, defeating Fazilka Falcons by seven wickets at the PCA Stadium in Mohali.

Chasing a target of 183, Amritsar overcame an early setback to reach 186 for three in just 17.3 overs, with 15 balls still remaining. Naman Dhir and Abhay Choudhary turned the contest around with a remarkable unbeaten partnership that took the Soormas from 39 for three to victory.

Dhir led the charge with a superb unbeaten 88 off 48 deliveries. His innings included eight boundaries and four sixes as he took control of the chase with a combination of aggressive strokeplay and calculated batting.

At the other end, Choudhary provided excellent support with an unbeaten 58 off 35 balls, hitting seven fours and a six. The duo’s 147-run partnership completely shifted the momentum in Amritsar’s favour and ensured a comfortable finish.

Earlier, Fazilka Falcons had made a strong start after being asked to bat first. Opener Vihaan Malhotra smashed 60 from only 34 balls, striking eight fours and two sixes to give the Falcons early momentum.

Captain Sanvir Singh continued the attack with an impressive 63 off 35 deliveries. His innings featured eight fours and three sixes, helping Fazilka post a competitive 182-run total.

Amritsar, however, fought back effectively during the latter stages of the Falcons’ innings. Akash Pandey was among their leading bowlers, claiming two wickets for 27 runs in his four-over spell. Adhiraj Singh Mangat and Sahil Khan also picked up two wickets apiece.

The Soormas’ chase initially appeared uncertain as they lost wickets despite making a brisk start. Rahul Kumar’s dismissal left Amritsar struggling at 39 for three.

Dhir and Choudhary then joined forces and completely changed the complexion of the match. Their unbeaten 147-run stand not only stabilised the innings but also enabled Amritsar to accelerate towards the target without further damage.

The seven-wicket victory gives Amritsar Soormas a major boost as they look to build momentum in the tournament. They will next face Bathinda Royals on Friday.
