Tirupati- An incident in Tirupati has left five members of a family dead, with police investigating alleged killings followed by a fatal railway incident.
According to officials, the deceased include a man identified as Mohan, his wife Haritha, his mother Chandrakala, and his two minor children. Police said preliminary findings indicate that the man allegedly killed his wife and mother at their residence before later dying along with his children near a railway track.
A senior officer, G Ravi Kumar, confirmed that the incident took place on April 22 and that authorities are examining all possible angles, including the mental state of the accused, as no clear motive has emerged so far.
Investigators said that after the incident at home, the man went to his children’s school and brought them back, reportedly citing a family emergency. Later in the evening, the three were found dead after being struck by a moving train near Vepagunta railway station.
Railway officials alerted authorities after the loco pilot reported the incident, following which police reached the spot and initiated an investigation. The deaths at the residence have been registered under provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, while the railway incident is being examined separately by the Government Railway Police.
Neighbours described the family as quiet and noted that they had recently started a small business. Police said further investigation is underway to establish the sequence of events and determine the circumstances behind the incident.
