Shashi Tharoor clicks Priyanka Mohan’s photo at Rashtrapati Bhavan banquet, meets Aoora at Korea state event

A diplomatic banquet for South Korean President Lee Jae-myung turned into a star-studded evening as Shashi Tharoor met Priyanka Mohan and Aoora at Rashtrapati Bhavan.

New Delhi: What began as a formal diplomatic reception at Rashtrapati Bhavan turned into an unexpected celebrity moment when Congress MP Shashi Tharoor crossed paths with actor Priyanka Mohan and K-pop artist Aoora at a banquet hosted in honour of South Korean President Lee Jae-myung.

Tharoor shared glimpses from the evening on social media, describing the event as a celebration of diplomacy, friendship and cultural exchange. He said the banquet brought together senior political figures, dignitaries and unexpected entertainment personalities under one roof.

Among the evening’s lighter moments was an interaction with Priyanka Mohan, whom Tharoor referenced in connection with her film Made in Korea. The MP also revealed he personally clicked a photograph for the actor, a gesture that drew attention online after Priyanka thanked him publicly and described the meeting as memorable.

Tharoor also met K-pop star Aoora, who has built a fan base in India in recent years. Aoora later called it an honour to meet the parliamentarian and reflected on how music can bridge borders, languages and cultures.

The banquet, hosted for the visiting South Korean President, also featured interactions between Tharoor and senior officials, including members of the Indian government and Korean delegation, underscoring the diplomatic significance of the evening.

While the event focused on India-South Korea ties, social media buzz largely centred on the informal encounters involving Tharoor, Priyanka and Aoora, with many users calling it an unusual yet charming crossover of politics, cinema and K-pop.

The evening also highlighted the increasing intersection of diplomacy and pop culture, where state events are no longer confined to protocol alone but often produce moments that resonate far beyond political circles.
