New Delhi, April 20, 2026: Prime Minister Narendra Modi attended the ceremonial reception of Lee Jae Myung at Rashtrapati Bhavan on Monday, marking the formal start of the South Korean leader’s state visit to India.
The visiting President was accorded full ceremonial honours, including a guard of honour, as part of India’s traditional welcome for foreign heads of state. The reception is one of the key highlights of the visit, setting the tone for high level engagements between the two nations.
Following the ceremony, President Lee is scheduled to pay homage at Rajghat and later hold detailed discussions with Prime Minister Modi at Hyderabad House. The talks are expected to focus on expanding cooperation in areas such as trade, technology, defence and investment.
This visit, the first by a South Korean President to India in over eight years, is aimed at strengthening the special strategic partnership between the two countries and boosting economic ties.
Both sides are expected to explore ways to enhance bilateral trade, deepen industrial collaboration and strengthen supply chain partnerships amid evolving global economic conditions.
