New Delhi, Jan 23: Union Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas Hardeep Singh Puri announced that India Energy Week (IEW) 2026 will be held from January 27 to 30, 2026, at ONGC’s ATI campus in Goa, positioning India at the centre of global energy discussions at a crucial time for the sector.

Speaking at the curtain raiser press conference, the Minister described IEW as the first major international energy gathering of the year, aimed at enhancing energy security, driving investments, and accelerating practical decarbonisation solutions.

IEW has grown rapidly since its launch. Participation figures have surged from around 30,000 delegates in 2023 to 68,000 in 2025, and the upcoming edition is projected to host over 75,000 attendees. The event will feature 600+ exhibitors, including 180 international companies, more than 500 global speakers, and over 120 conference sessions. According to the Minister, this growth highlights India’s expanding influence in shaping the global energy narrative.

So far, 17 Ministers and Deputy Ministers from countries such as the UAE, Canada, the Netherlands, Oman, Brunei, Myanmar, and Tanzania have confirmed attendance. Major international bodies including the International Energy Forum, BIMSTEC, and the Eurasian Economic Union will also take part.

The exhibition will span 11 specialised zones, covering areas like AI and digital technologies, hydrogen, renewables, biofuels, petrochemicals, LNG, city gas distribution, and net-zero innovations. New additions this year include dedicated sections on nuclear energy and sustainable aviation fuel.

IEW 2026’s conference agenda will revolve around 10 key strategic themes aligned with global energy priorities. The programme includes four ministerial-level sessions, 47 leadership and spotlight discussions, and five exclusive “Energy Talks” featuring one-on-one dialogues with prominent global energy leaders.

A special Make in India and Indigenisation Pavilion, led by Engineers India Limited, will spotlight opportunities for MSMEs, vendors, and start-ups, supporting domestic manufacturing of critical energy equipment. The venue will also host daily technology-focused discussions.

Additionally, 11 country pavilions — including those from Japan, the US, Germany, the UK, Norway, Canada, Russia, China, and the Netherlands — will underline the event’s strong global engagement.

Major Business Deals Expected

The Minister indicated that IEW 2026 will serve as a platform for significant commercial agreements. Proposed deals include:

  • Shipbuilding contracts involving ONGC, Japan’s Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, and Samsung Heavy Industries
  • A crude oil supply agreement between BPCL and Petrobras
  • Upstream collaboration between BPRL and Shell
  • LNG sourcing partnerships involving OIL, NRL, and TotalEnergies
  • A joint project between NRL and TotalEnergies to develop a 200 KTPA Sustainable Aviation Fuel plant in Paradip, Odisha

A key highlight will be the 9th Prime Minister’s Roundtable, where the Prime Minister will engage with global CEOs, PSUs, and private industry leaders. This meeting aims to strengthen strategic partnerships and investment flows into India’s energy sector.

Other important side events include energy dialogues with Arab nations, Japan, Iceland (focused on geothermal and carbon capture), the Netherlands, and US industry groups.

IEW 2026 will also spotlight innovation through initiatives such as:

  • Avinya 2026 Startup Challenge
  • Vasudha 3.0 with global participation
  • Hackathon Challenge 2026 with IITs, addressing AI-driven exploration, energy efficiency, hydrogen, and circular economy solutions

Several knowledge resources will be unveiled, including a white paper on biofuels financing, a Sustainable Aviation Fuel microsite, and the India Bioenergy Outlook 2030 report by the IEA and PPAC.
