Bengaluru Court Re-Issues Non-Bailable Warrant Against Actor Prakash Raj

BENGALURU,24 JUNE 2026: A Bengaluru court has re-issued a non-bailable warrant (NBW) against noted actor and filmmaker Prakash Raj in connection with a case related to alleged irregularities in electoral records. The development comes after the actor reportedly failed to appear before the court despite previous directions.

The case pertains to allegations that Prakash Raj’s name appeared in four different electoral rolls across three states, including Karnataka. The matter has raised concerns over possible violations of election laws, which prohibit an individual from being registered as a voter in more than one constituency.

According to reports, the complaint was filed after discrepancies were noticed in voter registration records. The complainant alleged that the actor’s name was listed in multiple voter rolls, prompting authorities to investigate whether the entries were the result of administrative errors or constituted a breach of electoral regulations.

During the latest hearing, the court took note of the actor’s absence and decided to re-issue the non-bailable warrant to secure his presence in the proceedings. The warrant directs law enforcement authorities to ensure that he appears before the court on the next date of hearing.

Prakash Raj, a prominent figure in Indian cinema known for his work in Kannada, Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam and Hindi films, has also been active in public affairs and social issues. However, the current case relates solely to electoral roll discrepancies and remains under judicial consideration.

Legal experts note that maintaining accurate voter records is essential for ensuring the integrity of the electoral process. Election laws require citizens to be enrolled at only one place of ordinary residence, and any duplication in voter lists is subject to scrutiny by the concerned authorities.

The court is expected to continue hearing the matter in the coming weeks. Further action will depend on the findings presented before the court and the actor’s response to the allegations.
