New Delhi, 2 October 2025 – Union Minister of Railways, Electronics and Information Technology, and Information and Broadcasting, Ashwini Vaishnaw, inaugurated the NIELIT Digital University (NDU) platform, a pioneering initiative designed to democratize access to high-quality digital education across India. The launch also saw the virtual inauguration of five new NIELIT Centres at Muzaffarpur (Bihar), Balasore (Odisha), Tirupati (Andhra Pradesh), Lunglei (Mizoram), and Daman (DNHDD), further strengthening NIELIT’s nationwide footprint.
Speaking at the event, Vaishnaw highlighted the importance of aligning education with industry requirements, emphasizing the motto “YOU DECIDE WHAT TO TEACH”. He stressed that NIELIT should actively engage with the Top 500 companies across sectors to ensure courses are relevant to emerging technologies, including AI, cybersecurity, data science, and semiconductors. During the launch, MoUs were exchanged between NIELIT and leading industry players such as Microsoft, Zscaler, CCRYN, Dixon Tech, and Future Crime to strengthen industry-academia collaboration.
Vaishnaw noted, “The electronics manufacturing sector alone has grown into an industry worth ₹13 lakh crore. NIELIT will play a key role in preparing students to meet industry demands and build a future-ready workforce.”

The NIELIT Digital University platform (ndu.digital) offers flexible digital learning modes, virtual labs, AI-driven career pathways, multilingual learning, verifiable digital certificates, and industry-integrated programs. It aims to empower learners across India, targeting 40 lakh learners by 2030, and aligns with initiatives such as Digital India, NEP 2020, and Skill India.

The event also featured a panel discussion on “Role of AI in Digitalization of Education”, attended by experts from Intel, Infosys, Microsoft, AA2IT, and Barco Electronics, discussing skilling initiatives, employability, and industry-aligned learning pathways.
Over 1,500 participants, including NIELIT students, MPs, MLAs, academicians, and technology experts, joined the launch virtually. Vaishnaw highlighted the strategic importance of connecting North-East India, particularly Lunglei, Mizoram, with digital education opportunities.

With 56 NIELIT centres, 750+ accredited institutes, and 9,000+ facilitation centers nationwide, NIELIT has been a pioneer in digital empowerment and skill development in emerging technologies. Now recognized as a “Deemed to be University”, NIELIT aims to revolutionize higher education in Electronics and ICT through its comprehensive digital learning ecosystem.
