The Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) successfully observed Swachhata Pakhwada 2025 from July 16 to July 31, 2025, both at its headquarters and across the country through its affiliated offices and autonomous bodies. This fortnight-long drive was held under the directive of the Cabinet Secretariat and coordinated by the Department of Drinking Water and Sanitation, in alignment with the government’s ongoing efforts toward realizing Mahatma Gandhi’s vision of a clean and hygienic India.

The campaign began with a pledge-taking ceremony on July 16, led by Rajit Punhani, Secretary, MSDE, in the presence of senior officials. This initiative was mirrored across regional offices where heads of departments conducted the pledge to reinforce a collective commitment to cleanliness.

Throughout the Pakhwada, cleanliness drives were carried out extensively within Kaushal Bhawan, including office spaces and washrooms. MSDE officials and staff actively participated in the efforts to enhance hygiene and promote a clean work environment. Additionally, the Ministry leadership, including the Secretary, took part in a tree plantation drive on the premises, reflecting the sustainable spirit of the campaign.

To further engage staff and promote creativity around the theme of “Swachhata,” the Ministry hosted competitions such as painting and slogan writing. These events saw enthusiastic participation and were deemed highly successful. Parallelly, a dedicated awareness campaign was conducted targeting auto-rickshaw drivers and food stall vendors in nearby areas, emphasizing the importance of community-wide sanitation. Another notable initiative was an awareness session on eliminating single-use plastics, organized at Kaushal Bhawan with the participation of Ministry officials.

The fortnight-long drive concluded on July 31 with a vibrant closing ceremony that recognized the efforts of participants and contributors. Prizes were distributed to winners of various competitions, and safai mitras were felicitated with appreciation kits for their invaluable services in maintaining hygiene and cleanliness.
