Gurugram July 27 2024 : Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (DHBVN) has introduced the Surcharge Waiver Scheme, 2024 which will be in effect until August 31, 2024. This scheme has been launched to encourage the citizen to pay their bills.
PC Meena, Divisional Commissioner of Hisar and Managing Director of the Corporation, stated that the surcharge waiver scheme applies to both connected and disconnected consumers. The total delayed payment surcharge as of the notification date will be waived. The scheme is valid only for those who were defaulters as of December 31, 2023, and still are in defaulter list. The scheme has been launched to encourage the customer to pay their respective bills.
Further, he stated that the customers who will opt into the scheme their waived surcharge will be written off in installments with regular payment of six monthly or three bi-monthly current bills. Consumers making a lump sum payment will receive a 5% discount on the principal amount.
He instructed the officials to correct the incorrect billing as per the corporation’s instructions. Reconnection of disconnected customers will be done after paying the first installment of the principal amount with applicable RCO charges. But if consumer fails to pay the amount their entire surcharge will be reinstated and the consumer will be excluded from the scheme. Consumers with cases pending in judicial forums due to billing disputes are not eligible but if they withdraw the case, they can get benefits of the scheme. He emphasized that all officials must ensure prompt and honest efforts to make this scheme successful. The concerned SDO will maintain a separate register for careful compliance with the surcharge waiver.
In case of any complaint or query about the scheme, customers can appeal to the concerned Executive Engineer, who will give response within three working days of receiving the appeal.
