Faridabad Rain Crisis: Congress Leader Sumit Gaur Targets BJP Over Waterlogging and Poor Civic Infrastructure

Faridabad: Faridabad rain waterlogging crisis has once again raised questions over the city’s civic infrastructure after heavy monsoon showers disrupted normal life. Congress state spokesperson Sumit Gaur criticised the BJP government, alleging that flooded roads, damaged streets and drainage failures exposed the gap between development claims and ground realities.

During his visit to several waterlogged areas of the city, Gaur said that residents of both residential sectors and colonies were facing difficulties due to flooded roads, traffic disruptions and civic problems. He claimed that despite Faridabad being projected as a smart city, the situation on the ground reflected a lack of proper planning and maintenance.

Gaur alleged that newly constructed roads and public infrastructure failed to withstand a single spell of heavy rain, causing inconvenience to commuters and residents. He accused the BJP government of focusing more on announcements rather than ensuring effective implementation of development projects.

“The condition of roads, drainage systems and basic facilities after rainfall shows the reality of urban development in Faridabad,” Gaur said, adding that people are seeking accountability from elected representatives over recurring monsoon-related issues.

The Congress leader further claimed that the presence of senior ministers and public representatives in the region has failed to bring visible improvements to the city’s civic infrastructure. He said that traffic movement was severely affected due to waterlogging, forcing people to spend hours on routes that usually take only a few minutes.

Gaur demanded immediate steps to improve drainage systems, repair damaged roads and address public grievances. He said that sustainable development requires better planning and execution rather than only making claims of progress.
