New Delhi, July 27 2024 : Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma presented the state’s ambitious ‘Developed Rajasthan@2047’ roadmap during the 9th NITI Aayog Governing Council meeting held today under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
In his presentation, Chief Minister Sharma detailed the strategic plan aimed at transforming Rajasthan into a developed state by 2047. The roadmap includes ten key objectives outlined in the 2024-25 budget, such as elevating the state’s economy to $350 billion within five years, improving infrastructure, advancing urban and rural development, empowering farmers, boosting MSMEs, and preserving cultural heritage. The plan also focuses on enhancing healthcare and governance.
Sharma highlighted recent progress in the power sector, citing agreements worth ₹1.5 lakh crore with major central enterprises, including NTPC and Coal India. These agreements are set to produce 32,000 megawatts of electricity, contributing to Rajasthan’s goal of achieving energy self-sufficiency.
Additionally, the Chief Minister announced that land has been allocated for a 2950 MW solar project. Under the PM Kusum scheme, Letters of Intent (LOIs) for 4386 MW of capacity have been issued in just seven months. The PM Surya Ghar scheme has recorded over 4 lakh registrations and more than 1 lakh applications.
Sharma also expressed appreciation to Prime Minister Modi for incorporating the Eastern Rajasthan Canal Project (ERCP) into the river linking projects, addressing long-standing water supply issues in Churu, Jhunjhunu, and Sikar districts. He revealed that ₹15,000 crore will be invested this year under the Jal Jeevan Mission to provide water to 25 lakh households.
On healthcare, Sharma reported an allocation of ₹27,660 crore, representing 8.26% of the state budget. He highlighted the launch of the ‘Chief Minister Ayushman Arogya Yojana’ and an increase in the number of Jan Aushadhi Kendras.
In the education sector, Sharma noted the establishment of 134 Swami Vivekananda Model Schools with primary classes and the installation of virtual online labs in 402 PM SHRI schools.
Over the past seven months, the state has undertaken significant initiatives, including the construction of 2,750 km of greenfield expressways, creation of mother forests in every district, raising the farmer honorarium from ₹6,000 to ₹8,000, providing 20,000 job placements, and implementing ‘One State-One Election’.
Sharma requested central government support for various projects, including filling the Bhakra and Pong dams, extending the Jal Jeevan Mission to March 2027, increasing the solar pump target under the PM Kusum scheme to 6 lakh, and approving ₹8,780 crore for grid modernization.
He also sought expedited approval for the increased cost of ₹72,937 crore for the Rajasthan Refinery Project and emphasized the need for central assistance in religious tourism. Specifically, he requested national highway status for the Braj Chaurasi Kos Parikrama route.
In conclusion, Chief Minister Sharma reaffirmed his commitment to achieving the ‘Developed Rajasthan@2047’ goals and advancing the state’s progress under Prime Minister Modi’s guidance.
