Delhi, July 27 2024 : In a disturbing incident in Delhi, a teenage girl fell from the roof of a building following an assault by a builder during a property dispute. The confrontation, which was captured on video and has since gone viral, occurred when the builder slapped the girl during a heated argument, leading her to fall from the building. Witnesses reported hearing her screams of pain as local residents rushed to her aid.
The accused builder is currently at large. The police have launched an investigation, registering a case and forming multiple teams to track down and apprehend the suspect.
This incident highlights ongoing concerns about violence against women in India. According to the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB), crimes against women rose by 4% in 2022. Delhi has reported the highest number of such cases among major cities for the third consecutive year, with 14,158 reported incidents and approximately 186.9 crimes per 100,000 women. The capital accounted for 31.20% of the total crimes in this category, reflecting a significant issue in the region.
The past week has seen a series of violent incidents involving women. In Navi Mumbai, a 20-year-old girl was fatally stabbed by her boyfriend over a relationship dispute. The police have filed a murder case and are searching for the accused. Similarly, on July 23, a 24-year-old woman was murdered in her paying guest accommodation in Bengaluru’s Koramangala area. The police apprehended the suspect, who had fled to Madhya Pradesh, after the victim, originally from Bihar, allegedly advised her roommate to avoid the unemployed accused.
