Mohan Bhagwat to Engage with Gen Z in Nagpur on Independence Day

RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat will meet Gen Z in Nagpur on Independence Day to discuss democracy, constitutional values and the role of youth in nation-building.

Nagpur, August 11, 2026; Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat is scheduled to meet and interact with young people in Nagpur on August 15 as part of an initiative focused on youth participation, democratic values and the future direction of India.

The programme will take place at Kasturchand Park during the Independence Day celebrations. Bhagwat is expected to begin the event by unfurling the national flag at a newly erected 200-foot flag mast before joining a discussion with members of Gen Z.

The interaction is being planned as an open platform for young participants to share their views and discuss subjects connected with democracy, constitutional principles and the responsibilities of the younger generation in nation-building.

The Nagpur programme follows a similar youth engagement event attended by Bhagwat in Mumbai on August 6. The initiative seeks to establish direct conversations between the RSS chief and young citizens and provide an opportunity to understand their expectations and concerns regarding the country’s future.

Lokmat and the Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) are jointly organising the Nagpur programme. The initiative has been conceptualised by Dr Vijay Darda, Chairman of the Lokmat Editorial Board and a former Rajya Sabha member.

Several Maharashtra leaders and senior civic officials are expected to participate in the Independence Day programme. Maharashtra Revenue Minister and Nagpur Guardian Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule, Nagpur Mayor Neeta Thakre and Municipal Commissioner Dr Vipin Itankar are among those expected to attend.

The organisers have placed youth participation at the centre of the event, with discussions expected to examine how young Indians can contribute to the country’s social and economic development while strengthening democratic engagement.

The programme will also mark Bhagwat’s engagement with young people in his home city, Nagpur, which serves as the headquarters of the RSS. The event is expected to bring together a sizeable group of youngsters for a conversation on national aspirations, civic responsibility and India’s future.
