Online IPL Betting Racket Busted in East Delhi; Three Arrested from Madhu Vihar

Suspects Allegedly Caught Operating During Live IPL Match

New Delhi, May 25, 2026: East District Police’s Anti Auto Theft Squad (AATS) has busted an online IPL betting racket operating from Madhu Vihar and arrested three individuals allegedly involved in illegal betting activities during ongoing IPL T-20 matches.

The accused have been identified as Manish Jain (50), a resident of Madhu Vihar; Abhishek Jain (26), a resident of Jagat Puri; and Arpit Gupta (40), a resident of Mandawali. Police said the trio was allegedly running an online betting operation using electronic gadgets and specialized betting software.

According to police, a case under FIR No. 193/26 has been registered at Madhu Vihar Police Station under Sections 3, 4 and 5 of the Delhi Public Gambling Act, 1955.

Raid Conducted on Specific Intelligence

Police officials said the action was taken as part of a special drive against illegal betting and gambling activities linked to the ongoing IPL season. AATS teams had intensified surveillance and intelligence gathering across East Delhi to identify betting operators.

On May 23, acting on specific information received by ASI Rajiv Kumar, police learned that Manish Jain and his associates were allegedly accepting bets during IPL matches from a premises in Madhu Vihar. After obtaining the necessary search warrant, a police team conducted a raid at around 6 pm.

The operation was carried out under the supervision of ACP (Operations) Pawan Kumar and the leadership of Inspector Anand Singh, In-charge of AATS, East District.

Accused Caught During Live Match

During the raid, police found three men sitting in a room equipped with laptops, tablets, mobile phones and handwritten betting records. Investigators said a live IPL match was being streamed on tablet devices while the accused were allegedly coordinating betting transactions with punters through phone calls.

Police said the suspects attempted to flee after noticing the raiding team but were quickly apprehended.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the accused were allegedly using betting applications and software, including “Sky Live Pro”, “Data Calculation Ver 1.0” and “Skyexch”, to track live betting odds and maintain betting accounts.

Electronic Devices and Betting Records Seized

During the search, police recovered:

Two Dell laptops

Two Samsung tablets

Nine mobile phones

One notepad containing handwritten betting entries

One ball pen

Betting-related records and documents

The seized items have been taken into police custody for further examination.

Further Investigation Underway

Police said Manish Jain was allegedly operating the betting racket from his residence, while Abhishek Jain, a commerce graduate and nephew of Manish Jain, and Arpit Gupta, who runs an ice-cream agency, were allegedly assisting in the operation.

Investigators are now examining the financial transactions linked to the racket and are working to identify other individuals who may have been associated with the betting network.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (East District) Rajeev Kumar said further investigation is underway to uncover the full extent of the syndicate and trace its wider connections.
