Delhi CM Rekha Gupta Remembers Arun Jaitley on Death Anniversary, Calls His Legacy an Inspiration

New Delhi, August 24, 2026; Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Monday paid tribute to former Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley on his sixth death anniversary, recalling his contribution to public life, governance and economic reforms.

Gupta offered floral tributes to the former Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and remembered his long political career, from his association with the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad to his role in Parliament and the Union government.

The Chief Minister said Jaitley’s political journey reflected a strong commitment to public service and national interests. She also highlighted his tenure as Union Finance Minister, during which several significant economic and policy measures were undertaken.

In her tribute, Gupta said Jaitley had a particularly strong connection with Delhi, describing the national capital as his “karmabhoomi”. She noted that his association with party workers and residents of Delhi continues to be remembered.

Several BJP leaders also paid their respects at the Delhi BJP office. Delhi BJP President Harsh Malhotra recalled Jaitley’s ability to maintain relationships across political lines and praised his contribution to society and public life.

Delhi Assembly Speaker Vijender Gupta also remembered the former Union Minister, saying his leadership, vision and commitment to national service would continue to influence political leaders.

Arun Jaitley, one of the BJP’s prominent leaders and a senior lawyer, served in several key positions in the Union government. He was Union Finance and Corporate Affairs Minister from 2014 to 2019 and played an important role in shaping India’s economic policies during that period.

Jaitley died at AIIMS New Delhi on August 24, 2019, at the age of 66. His death anniversary is being observed by BJP leaders and supporters across the country with tributes to his political and public service legacy.
