FIR Row Intensifies: Sandeep Pathak Says ‘No Official Information Received’ Amid Punjab Cases

Rajya Sabha MP reacts a day after reports of non-bailable FIRs; political blame game escalates between BJP and AAP

New Delhi- Rajya Sabha MP Sandeep Pathak on Sunday said he has not received any official communication regarding the FIRs reportedly filed against him in Punjab, even as the political controversy around the issue deepened. His response comes a day after sources claimed that two FIRs under non-bailable sections were registered against him shortly after his exit from the Aam Aadmi Party and entry into the Bharatiya Janata Party.

Speaking to reporters, Pathak said he was awaiting official documents before responding. He also suggested that such actions could be politically motivated, adding that his commitment to working with “honesty and integrity” remains unchanged despite the party switch.

According to sources, the Punjab Police have initiated efforts to locate and arrest him, although the exact nature of the charges has not been disclosed publicly. Pathak was also seen leaving his Delhi residence on Saturday amid media attention but did not stop to answer questions.

The development comes in the backdrop of a major political shift, where several Rajya Sabha MPs, including Raghav Chadha and Ashok Mittal, recently resigned from AAP, significantly reducing the party’s strength in the Upper House. The move has triggered sharp reactions from both sides.

Sunil Jakhar, the BJP’s Punjab president, accused the ruling AAP government in the state of engaging in “political vendetta”, alleging double standards. Meanwhile, AAP representatives maintained that they have only learned about the FIRs through media reports and are not directly involved in the matter.

The situation has sparked a broader political row in Punjab, with both parties trading accusations as investigations into the reported cases continue.
