Renowned advertising icon Piyush Pandey, the creative mastermind behind some of India’s most memorable ad campaigns, passed away on October 24, 2025, at the age of 70, following a month-long coma.
Over a remarkable career spanning more than four decades at Ogilvy India, Pandey redefined Indian advertising by blending Hindi, regional dialects, and relatable everyday emotions into storytelling that connected deeply with audiences across the nation.
From the timeless Cadbury Dairy Milk campaigns that celebrated everyday joy to Fevicol’s witty humor and Asian Paints’ emotional narratives, Pandey’s work became part of India’s cultural fabric. He also played a key role in shaping political communication, including the BJP’s 2014 campaign slogan, which became a national phenomenon.
In recognition of his extraordinary contributions, Piyush Pandey was awarded the Padma Shri in 2016.
Leaders and industry stalwarts across the country have expressed grief at his passing. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, industrialist Gautam Adani, and several creative professionals paid heartfelt tributes, calling him a “genius who turned everyday life into unforgettable stories.”
Pandey’s legacy continues to inspire generations of advertisers, filmmakers, and storytellers who see creativity as a bridge between commerce and culture.
