National Institute of Siddha Holds Week-Long Programmes to Mark 11th Ayurveda Day

National Institute of Siddha Chennai is organising seminars, academic visits and practical training from September 18 to 25 to mark Ayurveda Day 2026.

Chennai-  The National Institute of Siddha (NIS), Chennai, is conducting a series of academic and public-awareness programmes from September 18 to 25 to commemorate the 11th Ayurveda Day.

The autonomous institute under the Ministry of Ayush has planned seminars, institutional visits, practical sessions and training programmes aimed at increasing awareness of Ayurveda and encouraging academic engagement among students, researchers, healthcare professionals and faculty members.

The celebrations began on September 18 with a seminar titled “Healthy Skin, Stronger Tomorrow – A Skin Expert Seminar”, organised by the Department of Aruvai, Kan, Kaathu, Mooku, Thondai, Pal Matrum Thol Maruthuvam as part of Skin Awareness Month. The event also marked the formal opening of the Ayurveda Day observance at the institute.

On September 21, NIS faculty members and students visited the VHS Hospital Campus in Taramani and the Dr Achanta Lakshmipathi Regional Ayurveda Research Institute (ALRARI), Chennai, as part of an institutional exposure and academic interaction programme.

A day later, the institute hosted a seminar on “Sophisticated Instrumental Approaches to Drug Standardization” at the Yoga Hall of the New OPD. Dr T. Vinodh Kumar, Research Officer (Chemistry), Captain Srinivasa Murthy Central Ayurveda Research Institute (CCRAS), attended as the chief guest.

The programme schedule also includes a September 23 seminar on “Future Perspectives of Integrative AYUSH Practices”, followed by a September 24 session focusing on “Unique Concepts of Ayurvedic Principles and Clinical Diagnosis.”

The week-long programme will conclude on September 25 with a hands-on training session on Ayurvedic Para-Surgical Procedures, providing participants with practical exposure alongside the academic discussions.

The activities are being coordinated by NIS faculty members with support from the organising committee. Undergraduate and postgraduate students, PhD scholars and faculty members are participating in the various programmes.

Through seminars, practical demonstrations and institutional collaborations, the initiative seeks to promote academic interaction and awareness of Ayurveda and integrative AYUSH practices while supporting the broader objectives of the Ministry of Ayush.
