New Delhi, September 19, 2026: Delhi Police Commissioner Anurag Kumar, IPS, felicitated police personnel from Rohini and South-East districts for their outstanding achievements, courage and exemplary performance in the line of duty.
The felicitation ceremony was held at the Vimarsh Conference Hall, Police Headquarters, in the presence of senior Delhi Police officers.
Head Constables Subhash and Somvir of Rohini District were recognised for their courage during a night patrol operation in Rohini.
On the intervening night of September 16–17, Head Constable Subhash was conducting patrol duty in Sectors 15 and 16 under the jurisdiction of Police Station KN Katju Marg. At around 3 am, he noticed a suspicious black Ford Endeavour with tinted windows parked near F-5 Block, Sector 16, with several persons around it

During a preliminary check, Subhash noticed two concealed firearms inside the vehicle’s centre armrest. He discreetly alerted the local beat staff and conveyed his location. Head Constable Somvir, deployed in the adjoining beat, immediately reached the spot.
When the officers asked the suspects to accompany them to the police station, the accused allegedly resisted and engaged in a scuffle with the police personnel. One of them also attempted to draw a pistol. Despite the confrontation, the two officers overpowered and apprehended both suspects.
The accused were identified as Rahul alias Pinku Grewal and Akash, who were found to be active members of the Bahu/Vicky Haddal Gang, according to Delhi Police.
Police recovered a STAR .30-bore automatic pistol with three live cartridges, a Beretta .32-bore automatic pistol with four live cartridges and the black Ford Endeavour from the accused.
A case under Sections 132, 221 and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Section 25 of the Arms Act was registered at Police Station KN Katju Marg.
Four personnel from South-East District — SI Chandraveer, Constable Dharmender, Head Constable Karamveer and Head Constable Harish Chand — were also felicitated for their role in dismantling a narcotics network.
The team of Police Station Okhla Industrial Area arrested 10 accused persons and recovered 1.383 kg of smack and ₹3.72 crore in cash during the investigation.
The probe began with the arrest of two street-level drug peddlers in April. Over the following three months, sustained field intelligence and investigation led to the arrest of Kiran alias Ram Prashad, Maniya alias Suman Pathak and Sunit alias Nannhe, eventually leading investigators to the major recovery from accused Gopi Singh.
SI Chandraveer spearheaded the investigation, intelligence gathering and operational planning while maintaining strict secrecy. Constable Dharmender contributed crucial ground-level intelligence and displayed courage during field operations.
Head Constable Karamveer ensured operational stability during high-pressure situations and promptly implemented command protocols, while Head Constable Harish Chand gathered and cross-verified ground-level information to ensure the raid was executed without any lapse.
The Delhi Police Commissioner and senior officers appreciated the personnel for their dedication, courage, professionalism and operational excellence, recognising their contribution to maintaining law and order and combating organised crime and narcotics trafficking in the national capital.
