Amit Shah Visits New Medical College and Hospital Facility in Hubballi
The new facility, with 250 MBBS seats and 1,200 beds, 300 of which are reserved for the poor, marks a new milestone in extending world-class healthcare across Karnataka
The Impressive TimesHubballi- Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Amit Shah visited the campus of JGMM Medical College and KLE Hospital and Medical Research Centre in Hubballi, Karnataka, highlighting the expansion of advanced healthcare and medical education facilities in the region.
The new medical complex has been developed across approximately 50 acres at an estimated cost of ₹700 crore. The facility has a built-up area of around 20 lakh square feet and includes a medical college with 250 MBBS seats and a 1,200-bed hospital.
Of the total hospital capacity, 300 beds have been reserved for economically weaker patients, according to details shared during the visit.
The facility brings a broad range of medical services under one roof. It includes departments covering general medicine, surgery, orthopaedics, pulmonology, obstetrics and gynaecology, ophthalmology, ENT, psychiatry, dentistry and physiotherapy.
The hospital will also provide several super-speciality services, including cardiology, neurology, neurosurgery, gastroenterology, nephrology, organ transplantation, urology, oncology and endocrinology. Modern laboratory facilities are also part of the complex.
Patients will have access to round-the-clock emergency and trauma services, along with a modern dialysis unit, digital X-ray, high-resolution CT scanning and ultrasonography facilities.
During his visit, Shah highlighted the contribution of KLE, which has been serving the country in the fields of education and healthcare for more than 110 years. He described the new facility as another step towards expanding access to advanced healthcare services in Karnataka.
The development is expected to strengthen both medical education and healthcare delivery in the region by combining undergraduate medical training with a large multi-speciality hospital and advanced treatment facilities.
The project also aims to provide improved access to specialised and super-specialised healthcare services, particularly for patients requiring advanced medical treatment.
