Education Is Key to Building a Better Society: Ex Bihar CM Nitish Kumar

Nalanda: Education is the foundation for building a better society, former Bihar CM and JD(U) national president Nitish Kumar said while inaugurating the newly constructed building of Mahabodhi College, Nalanda, and the ITEP academic session 2026-30.

The event was attended by Bihar Rural Development and Information and Public Relations Minister Shravan Kumar, MP Kaushalendra Kumar, Minister Jama Khan, Chief Whip Sanjay Gandhi, Deputy Leader of the Legislative Council Lalan Sarraf, Whip Reena Yadav, Pataliputra University Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Upendra Prasad, Mahabodhi College secretary Rajendra Prasad and 38 Bihar Battalion NCC Commanding Officer Col Rajesh Bahri.

The programme was presided over by Mahabodhi College Principal Dr Arvind Kumar and began with the lighting of a ceremonial lamp by the guests. During the event, Nitish Kumar also released the college’s annual magazine, ‘Nav Chetna’, which features academic activities, research articles, creative works and cultural and social initiatives.

He appreciated the publication and said such platforms help encourage students’ creativity, critical thinking and expression. He stressed that education should be accompanied by opportunities for students to develop their creative and intellectual abilities.

Shravan Kumar said efforts to expand development and higher education infrastructure in Bihar reflected a long-term approach. He said strengthening infrastructure at higher education institutions would help provide students with a better academic environment and facilities. He described the newly constructed college building as an important milestone that would support students’ knowledge, skills and overall development.

The college management said it was working to provide quality education along with opportunities for the overall development of students. It has been promoting education, research, NCC, NSS, sports, cultural and creative activities. The new building is expected to help meet the institution’s growing academic requirements and streamline its educational activities.

Several university officials and academicians also attended the event, including Pataliputra University Education Department coordinator Dr Kamalnayan Prasad, Deepak Sharma, Prof Sudhir Kumar Verma and Dr Kaushlendra Kumar. The college family expressed gratitude to the guests, public representatives, university officials, academicians, staff, NCC cadets and students.
