Battle for Delhi: Vote Counting in Full Swing Across 19 Centres

New Delhi : The counting of votes for the Delhi NCT Assembly Elections 2025 is underway across 19 counting centres. Trends are now available for all 70 assembly constituencies. As per the latest updates, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is leading in 42 seats, while the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is ahead in 28 seats. The by-election for the Milkipur assembly constituency in Uttar Pradesh has also seen the BJP maintaining a strong lead, with its candidate Chandrabhanu Paswan ahead by over 10,000 votes. Similarly, the counting of votes in the by-election for the Erode (East) assembly constituency in Tamil Nadu is in progress, where Chandirakumar V. C. of the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) is leading.

Several prominent leaders of AAP are facing significant challenges in their respective constituencies. Among those trailing are Chief Minister Atishi in Kalkaji, where BJP’s Ramesh Bidhuri is leading, and former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, who is behind in Jangpura. Other AAP leaders who are trailing include Somnath Bharti in Malviya Nagar, Saurabh Bharadwaj in Greater Kailash, and Awadh Ojha in Patparganj, where BJP’s Ravi Negi has taken a lead. Despite these setbacks, some key AAP leaders are maintaining their hold, including party chief Arvind Kejriwal, who is leading in the New Delhi constituency, while Congress’ Sandeep Dikshit and BJP’s Parvesh Sahib Singh are trailing. Gopal Rai is ahead in Babarpur, and leaders like Rakhi Birla and Durgesh Pathak are also leading in their respective constituencies.

The BJP has seen significant gains across Delhi, with several of its candidates leading. Among them are Parvesh Sahib Singh, Vijendra Gupta, Dushyant Goutam, Rajkumar Anand, Harish Khurana, Manjinder Singh Sirsa, Kailash Gahlot, Ramesh Bidhuri, Om Prakash Sharma, Ravi Negi, and Arvinder Singh Lovely. Om Prakash Sharma, a three-time MLA from Vishwas Nagar, is once again leading in his constituency. The BJP candidate Ravinder Indraj Singh is leading in Bawana by over 11,000 votes.

The Congress party, on the other hand, is struggling to gain traction, with all its candidates currently trailing. Notable among them are Devender Yadav in Badli and Alka Lamba.
