Lucknow, Feb 4, 2025: Bhutan’s King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck, who is visiting India to partake in the Maha Kumbh, made a significant spiritual journey on Tuesday by taking a sacred dip at the Triveni Sangam in Prayagraj. The King was accompanied by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath for this momentous occasion.
After immersing himself in the holy waters of the confluence of the Ganga, Yamuna, and the mythical Saraswati rivers, the Bhutanese monarch engaged in traditional rituals on the riverbanks, where the sound of Vedic chants filled the air, marking the spiritual significance of the moment.
King Wangchuck also participated in a symbolic act of reverence, rowing a large houseboat alongside CM Adityanath and feeding river birds as a gesture of respect for nature. Additionally, he performed the holy aarti, paying tribute to the sacred rivers. The King’s participation in the rituals highlights the deep spiritual and cultural bond shared between India and Bhutan.
Prior to his arrival in Prayagraj, the King was warmly welcomed in Lucknow by CM Adityanath at Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport on Monday. The Chief Minister presented the visiting dignitary with a bouquet of flowers, while cultural performances were held to honor the Bhutanese monarch.
