BJP violating Model Code of Conduct, but Delhi Police is harassing whistleblowers

Police brutally beat two youths who were recording BJP goons violating the Model Code of Conduct: CM Atishi

NEW DELHI, Feb 04, 2025: BJP goons are openly violating the Model Code of Conduct in Delhi, and instead of taking action against them, the Delhi Police and the Election Commission are targeting those who file complaints. On Monday night, BJP members violated the Model Code of Conduct in the constituencies of Kalkaji, Jangpura, and Rajinder Nagar. Instead of taking action against BJP workers, the police brutally assaulted two youths who were filming the violations in Kalkaji. Moreover, when a complaint was filed, the police registered an FIR against the Chief Minister of Delhi. This revelation was made on Tuesday by senior leader Manish Sisodia, Delhi CM Atishi, and Durgesh Pathak.

Reacting strongly to these incidents, Arvind Kejriwal posted on X that a police case was filed against the Chief Minister of Delhi for lodging a complaint against open hooliganism. “So now, this is the official stance of the Delhi Police and the Election Commission. Their ‘job’ is to act as hooligans against the Aam Aadmi Party, protect BJP’s hooliganism, and facilitate the distribution of alcohol, money, and goods. If anyone tries to stop them from doing this ‘job,’ they will be booked for obstructing police and Election Commission operations,” Arvind Kejriwal wrote.

Despite video evidence and complaints, no action is being taken against hooligans – Manish Sisodia

Senior leader Manish Sisodia said that the Election Commission of India was once widely respected across the country. “It was once led by figures like T.N. Seshan, whose name became synonymous with free and fair elections. Today, under Rajiv Kumar’s leadership, the Election Commission appears to have handed over the responsibility of contesting elections to the BJP. In Delhi, the election is not being fought by the BJP but rather by the Election Commission and the Delhi Police in partnership with the BJP. Numerous reports from across Delhi and videos circulating on social media clearly show BJP goons engaging in open hooliganism for the past three to four days. Meanwhile, the police are harassing complainants and even journalists. However, no action is being taken against those violating the code of conduct and engaging in hooliganism. This has been happening not just now but since before the election was announced.”

Women activists are being threatened with acid attacks – Manish Sisodia

Manish Sisodia said that ₹1,100 and sarees were distributed, yet the Election Commission claims no evidence has been found, even though numerous videos are available on social media. “The Delhi election is being fought through a BJP-Election Commission-Delhi Police partnership. I want to tell Home Minister Amit Shah that your people are engaging in hooliganism in Delhi’s election—stop them. BJP goons in Jangpura have openly threatened our women activists, saying, ‘Speak too much, and we’ll throw acid on your face so you won’t be able to show it to anyone.’”

Voter IDs are being taken away from slum dwellers through intimidation, but no action is being taken – Manish Sisodia

Manish Sisodia further said that journalists visited slums and reported that BJP goons were threatening residents, warning them against voting for the AAP. “They are openly intimidating workers, and neither the Election Commission nor the police are doing anything. In many slums, people have told me that their voter ID cards were forcibly taken away. They were threatened that if they were seen anywhere near the voting booth, they wouldn’t be left alive,” he added.

If BJP wins, Delhi will be run by mafia elements – Manish Sisodia

Manish Sisodia warned that if the BJP wins the elections, the government will not be run democratically but by mafia groups. “People of Delhi are receiving benefits such as quality education, free electricity and water, free bus travel, and 24-hour facilities. If BJP wins, all these schemes will be destroyed by the mafia. The future of Delhi can be seen in the videos showing BJP candidates and their goons assaulting women in Jangpura.”

BJP and the Election Commission have become synonymous – Manish Sisodia

Manish Sisodia said that under Rajiv Kumar’s leadership, the Election Commission has completely lost its credibility. “The Election Commission is supposed to ensure fairness. Instead, it is protecting BJP hooligans and registering FIRs against complainants. If the Election Commission were truly impartial, it would suspend the police officer who filed an FIR against CM Atishi while shielding BJP goons.”

Ramesh Bidhuri’s Men Threatened Slum Dwellers at Night; Police Took Them Away but No Action Was Taken – CM Atishi

Delhi CM Atishi stated that after election campaigning ended at 6 PM on Monday, the silence period began. The model code of conduct and all related laws are clear that no outsider voter can be present in any assembly constituency during this period, as it can influence the election. On Monday evening, AAP received information that some people associated with BJP leader Ramesh Bidhuri were threatening slum dwellers at night.

“We reached there at night and found Dinesh Chaudhary from Sangam Vihar present. We have GPS-tagged photos from February 3, showing Dinesh Chaudhary in Bal Mukund Khand, Giri Nagar, at 11:30 PM. I called the Returning Officer and DCP, after which the police arrived and took Dinesh Chaudhary away. However, when we followed them, we found out that the police did not take any action and let him go,” said CM Atishi.

Even After Campaigning Ended, Ramesh Bidhuri’s Men Were Roaming in the Slums – CM Atishi

CM Atishi further stated that while heading toward the police station, they saw another vehicle with Ramesh Bidhuri’s men moving around the slums of Nav Jeevan Camp and Nehru Camp. “We have GPS-tagged photos of this as well. The person in the picture is Anuj Bidhuri, Ramesh Bidhuri’s nephew, known as ‘Sethi’ in the area. Another person present was Lalu Bidhuri from Tughlakabad. We have GPS-tagged pictures as proof,” said CM Atishi.

Govindpuri SHO Aided Ramesh Bidhuri’s Men Instead of Taking Action – CM Atishi

CM Atishi stated that she called the Election Commission to the location, lodged a complaint with the Returning Officer, and summoned the flying squad and police. However, when Govindpuri SHO arrived and saw Anuj Bidhuri, he openly helped him escape.

“To distract everyone, the police brutally beat two local boys, Sagar Mehta and Ashmit Singh. One of them was there to drop off something at a relative’s house and was recording the entire incident. The other stepped out after seeing one of our volunteers. These boys were filming the blatant violation of the model code of conduct and reporting it to the Election Commission. However, Govindpuri SHO Dharamvir Singh and ten other officers attacked them. We have video evidence of the entire incident,” she said.

According to CM Atishi, these boys were detained in the police station from 1 AM to 6 AM without any complaint or FIR. “Instead of taking action against the violators, the South East ACP Harsh Indora, Sarita Vihar ACP Virendra, and Kalkaji ACP Rakesh Kumar were all present but did nothing. Instead, they detained the whistleblowers for five hours,” she added.

Election Commission is Filing Cases Against Whistleblowers – CM Atishi

CM Atishi stated that despite calling the Election Commission, the Returning Officer, and the police, no action was taken against Ramesh Bidhuri. Instead, an FIR was lodged against her.

“I want to ask the Election Commission – India is known for its free and fair elections. But today, open hooliganism is happening in Delhi. BJP leaders are committing hooliganism, and the police are protecting them. Instead of acting against them, the Election Commission is filing cases against those who report violations. Is this the state of democracy?” she questioned.

Delhi’s People Are Watching Everything and Will Decide Wisely – CM Atishi

CM Atishi called upon Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar to wake up. “We have been requesting a meeting with him since morning, but he is not giving us time. The Election Commission is filing FIRs against those who complain. The police are brutally assaulting those reporting violations of the model code of conduct. Today, India’s democracy is in Rajiv Kumar’s hands. History will judge whether democracy will survive in Delhi or not.

I want to tell the BJP that the people of Delhi are watching everything. They know that one side consists of those engaging in hooliganism and ending welfare schemes, while the other side ensures benefits worth ₹25,000 per month for citizens. Delhi’s people will decide wisely,” she said.

Instead of Acting Against BJP Workers Carrying Money and Shawls in Cars, Police Filed Cases Against Whistleblowers – Durgesh Pathak

Senior AAP leader Durgesh Pathak stated that for several days, there were reports of people distributing money, sarees, and shawls in his Rajinder Nagar constituency.

“We complained multiple times to the Election Commission and the police. However, the police demanded proof. On Monday night at around 9:30 PM, a car belonging to a BJP leader’s relative was parked at Shivpuri Gate No. 2, filled with money and shawls. Locals informed us, and our workers reached there. We complained to the Election Commission and called the SHO. For over three and a half hours, locals protested and raised slogans against the BJP,” he said.

Durgesh Pathak stated that despite the clear evidence, instead of taking action against those in the car, the police filed cases against AAP workers who reported the violation. “This morning, the police have been visiting their homes, interrogating them about how they got the information,” he added.

Money, Sarees, and Shawls Are Being Openly Distributed Across Delhi, But the Election Commission Remains Silent – Durgesh Pathak

Durgesh Pathak accused the Election Commission of turning a blind eye to mass bribery and hooliganism. “Videos on social media clearly show a car filled with cash, shawls, and sarees. BJP leaders were inside, but the police let them go without any action. Instead, they are harassing those who reported the violation. The car used by our workers was fined ₹27,000 for a so-called traffic violation,” he claimed.

February 5 Will Be the Most Crucial Day in India’s Electoral History – Durgesh Pathak

Durgesh Pathak warned that the BJP, along with the Election Commission and the police, is running the election. “This time, BJP workers are not even campaigning because they know their party only creates chaos and has no voter support. Instead, the Election Commission’s agents and the police are doing their work, going door-to-door for them. I believe February 5 will be the most crucial day in India’s electoral history,” he said.

BJP Will Try to Prevent Anti-BJP Voters from Reaching Polling Booths – Durgesh Pathak

Durgesh Pathak further alleged that Home Minister Amit Shah has prepared a list of polling booths where police will be deployed to prevent voters from casting their ballots.

“Amit Shah and the police have made all arrangements to suppress voter turnout. We want to inform the entire country through the media that February 5 may determine whether democracy in India survives or perishes. The police and the Election Commission will try their best to stop voters from reaching polling booths. The entire nation and international media should take note—if India does not rise against this now, democracy will be lost forever,” he warned.
