Prayagraj, Jan 29, 2025: On the sacred occasion of Mauni Amavasya, Prayagraj has been enveloped in a sea of devotees, as millions of Sanatanis converge to take a holy dip at the Sangam on Wednesday. The city is witnessing an extraordinary spiritual gathering, with pilgrims arriving in massive numbers to seek divine blessings.
In view of the overwhelming crowd surging into Maha Kumbh Nagar, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, along with revered saints, has appealed to devotees to take their holy dip at the nearest Ganga ghat. Stressing that several ghats have been specifically developed to provide a safe and comfortable bathing experience, the CM has urged people to avoid congestion at Sangam Nose.
He also requested devotees to strictly adhere to the fair administration’s guidelines and refrain from believing or spreading baseless rumors that could lead to panic or chaos.
Prominent spiritual leaders have echoed the CM’s appeal, calling upon pilgrims gathered for the Mauni Amavasya Snan at Maha Kumbh to practice caution and self-discipline. Swami Rambhadracharya advised devotees to abandon the insistence on bathing solely at the Sangam Nose and instead opt for the nearest ghat. He urged people to remain close to their respective camps and prioritize both their safety and that of fellow devotees.
As a distinguished saint of the Vaishnav sect, Swami Rambhadracharya also appealed to Akharas and devotees to remain vigilant and not fall prey to misinformation.
Yoga guru Baba Ramdev, addressing the grand congregation, remarked, “Considering the immense influx of crores of devotees, we have opted for a symbolic bath while praying for the well-being of the nation and the world.” He emphasized the importance of self-discipline, urging pilgrims not to be swept away by excessive enthusiasm but to bathe with caution and responsibility.
Similarly, Acharya Mahamandaleshwar Swami Avdheshanand Giri of Juna Akhara shared his perspective, stating that saints had chosen a symbolic bath due to the massive crowd. He underscored the significance of ensuring safety amid such an enormous gathering.
Akhada Parishad President Ravindra Puri added, “Currently, more than 12 crore devotees are present in Prayagraj. Managing such a vast congregation is a challenging task. With lakhs of saints and their followers also in attendance, safeguarding all devotees is our utmost priority.”
The fair administration, along with spiritual leaders, continues to monitor the situation, ensuring that arrangements facilitate a smooth and safe experience for all pilgrims participating in this auspicious occasion of Mauni Amavasya.
