New Delhi, January 15, 2025: Senior Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh on Tuesday alleged that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is indulging in divisive politics by exploiting bomb threats to schools for electoral gains just weeks before the upcoming polls.
This statement came in response to BJP spokesperson Sudhanshu Trivedi, who demanded that AAP clarify its alleged connections with individuals linked to NGOs involved in controversial activities, including protests against the hanging of Afzal Guru. Trivedi cited a Delhi Police investigation into recent hoax bomb threat emails and calls targeting over 400 schools in the capital.
Delhi Police revealed that a school student apprehended for sending these threats is reportedly associated with an NGO backed by a political party. However, addressing the media, Singh dismissed the claims as baseless and accused the BJP of fabricating stories for political advantage.
“Several threats have been made against schools in Delhi, yet the police have failed to provide any conclusive information. And now, BJP leader Sudhanshu Trivedi conveniently emerges with a concocted narrative,” Singh stated. “It is disgraceful that the BJP is manipulating issues of school safety and terror threats for political mileage,” he added.
Singh criticized the BJP-led Central government for its alleged inaction on the rising law and order concerns in Delhi. “For years, AAP has highlighted the deteriorating safety conditions in the capital, but the BJP government has done little to address these concerns,” Singh remarked.
Singh took a dig at the BJP, accusing its leaders of overstepping their bounds. “Sudhanshu Trivedi now seems to be doubling as Delhi’s unofficial Police Commissioner, sharing insights that even law enforcement cannot confirm. If the police remain silent, Anurag Thakur steps in to speak. When the police know nothing, Smriti Irani appears to have all the answers. This raises serious questions about how the BJP seems to know details that even investigative agencies cannot provide,” he alleged.
“Fifteen days before elections, BJP leaders suddenly begin presenting fictitious stories involving NGOs and other unverified entities. Where was this information ten months ago when these threats first began? This pattern clearly exposes their political motivations,” Singh asserted.
The AAP leader accused the BJP of being incapable of handling critical issues. “The BJP lacks visionary leadership, sound policies, and honest intentions. They are experts only in creating distractions and shifting blame,” Singh said.
Drawing attention to national security concerns, Singh sarcastically commented, “When China intruded into Indian territory and redrew borders, will you blame Arvind Kejriwal for that too? Tomorrow, you may even claim that the American President skipped inviting Narendra Modi to his inauguration because of Kejriwal! Such absurd accusations highlight the BJP’s desperation.”
Singh concluded by emphasizing that the BJP’s approach to politicizing safety concerns involving children demonstrates a disregard for both public security and ethical governance. He urged voters to see through the BJP’s tactics and hold them accountable in the upcoming election
