West Delhi Hit-and-Run Horror: Delivery Rider Falls Off Dabri Flyover, Dies

Zomato delivery executive killed after speeding car collision; accused driver on the run

New Delhi A tragic road accident in West Delhi claimed the life of a 25-year-old food delivery agent after he was struck by a speeding car and plunged nearly 40 feet from the Dabri Flyover on Thursday morning, police officials said.

The victim, identified as Rajkumar Yadav, was riding an electric scooter when a red Maruti Swift allegedly rammed into him on the flyover near Janakpuri. The impact caused him to lose balance and fall onto the road below.

Police said the driver fled the scene immediately after the crash, abandoning the damaged vehicle at the spot. A case has been registered under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for causing death due to negligence and endangering life.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (West) Darade Sharad Bhaskar confirmed that the convict has been identified and multiple teams are conducting raids to apprehend him.

Authorities received a distress call around 7:35 am from a passerby reporting that a man had fallen from the flyover. When police reached the spot, they found the damaged scooter and the abandoned car on the flyover, while the victim lay critically injured on the road below.

He was rushed to a nearby hospital and later shifted to Deen Dayal Upadhyay Hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead.

Rajkumar, a native of Jharkhand’s Godda district, had recently moved to Delhi and was working as a delivery executive with Zomato. He had shifted to the city just a week ago along with a friend in search of better earnings after working in Bengaluru for two years.

His friend, who shared accommodation with him in Sagarpur, recounted the last conversation they had earlier that morning. Rajkumar had left home around 6:30 am for a delivery and had said he would return shortly. When he did not come back, his friend called again—only to learn from a police officer that an accident had occurred.

The victim is survived by his parents, an elder sister, and a younger brother. He was the sole breadwinner of his family.

Police have intensified efforts to locate and arrest the absconding driver as investigations continue.
