PFWS Marks 54 Years of Service with Grand Celebration at Delhi Police Headquarters

New Delhi : The Police Families Welfare Society (PFWS) celebrated its 54th Foundation Day with great grandeur and splendour at Adarsh Auditorium, Police Headquarters. The occasion was graced by Rekha Gupta, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Delhi, as the Chief Guest.

The celebration was held under the able leadership of  Rachna Golchha, President, PFWS, and witnessed the gracious presence of former Pfws Presidents, senior Delhi Police officers, core committee members, and other distinguished guests. Families of Delhi Police from all 14 Welfare Centres participated with immense enthusiasm, reflecting a deep sense of unity, solidarity, and collective pride.

The programme commenced with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp by the President, PFWS, along with former Pfws Presidents, marking an auspicious beginning. The event was further enriched by captivating cultural performances presented by members of Delhi Police families and students of DPPS School, Wazirabad, adding vibrancy and artistic splendour to the occasion.

A key highlight of the event was the unveiling of the 10th edition of PFWS’s annual magazine, Koshish Ek Asha, by the Hon’ble Chief Guest, along with Rachna Golchha and the editorial core committee, followed by the launch of its digital edition.

In her keynote address,  Rekha Gupta highly appreciated the dedicated efforts of PFWS under the leadership of  Rachna Golchha towards the welfare, empowerment, and holistic development of Delhi Police families. She lauded the Society for creating meaningful opportunities for women and children through education, skill development, healthcare, and self-reliance initiatives. She encouraged PFWS to further expand its welfare programmes and suggested innovative sustainability initiatives, including recycling old clothes into useful products such as bags and other household items. She further stated that organisations like PFWS play a vital role in strengthening the morale of police personnel by ensuring the well-being and progress of their families, and assured her continued support for such noble endeavours.

In her address, Smt. Rachna Golchha reaffirmed PFWS’s commitment to the holistic welfare and empowerment of Delhi Police families. She highlighted key initiatives including the Sutra Embroidery Centre, jute product-making courses, and the upcoming launch of Kiran – A Ray of Hope for Special Children of Delhi Police Families. She also outlined various programmes such as health camps, grooming sessions, yoga and Zumba classes, music training, soft skills workshops, and digital learning initiatives aimed at enhancing self-reliance and personal development.

An audio-visual presentation showcased PFWS’s wide-ranging welfare initiatives over the years, reflecting its sustained commitment to education, skill development, healthcare, and emotional well-being.
Resource persons from leading hospitals, including Medanta – The Medicity, Max Super Speciality Hospital, Rajiv Gandhi Cancer Institute & Research Centre, and Radix Malik Hospital, were felicitated for organising 23 free health camps over eight months.

Representatives from organisations such as Lakmé, Delhivery Limited, Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay National Institute for Persons with Physical Disabilities, Singer India, and Sahyog Care4U were also honoured for their contribution towards skill development and welfare initiatives for women and children of Delhi Police families.
The Head of DPPS School, Wazirabad was also felicitated for their contribution to the cultural presentations.

In recognition of excellence, awards were presented to the top three Welfare Centres. The Best Welfare Centre Award was conferred upon Welfare Centre Model Town, followed by Welfare Centre Malviya Nagar, while Welfare Centres Narela and Jyoti Nagar jointly secured third place.

The celebration stood as a testament to PFWS’s enduring legacy of compassion, collaboration, and community service, reaffirming its mission to support and enrich the lives of police families.
