Bulandshahr– The key convict in the shocking triple murdered at a gym in Uttar Pradesh’s Bulandshahr district was killed in a police encounter on Thursday morning, officials confirmed, bringing a dramatic turn to a case that had sparked widespread outrage.
The accused, Jeetu Saini (33), who carried a reward of ₹50,000, was fatally injured during an exchange of fire with a joint police team in the Khurja area. Police said the encounter occurred around dawn when officers attempted to stop two men riding a scooter during routine checking.
According to officials, the suspects ignored signals to halt and allegedly fired at the police while attempting to escape. Security personnel retaliated, leading to a brief gunfight. Saini sustained multiple bullet injuries and was rushed to a nearby health facility before being referred to a district hospital, where doctors declared him dead. His accomplice managed to flee, prompting an ongoing manhunt.
Senior police officer Dinesh Kumar Singh stated that multiple teams had been deployed to track down those involved. Weapons, including a .32 bore pistol, along with the scooter and ammunition, were recovered from the scene.
During the operation, two policemen were injured, while others narrowly escaped harm thanks to protective gear. The injured personnel are currently undergoing treatment.
The encounter comes days after a brutal shooting at RJS Fitness Gym on April 25, where three men were gunned down during what was supposed to be a birthday celebration.
Police investigations suggest the violence stemmed from an ongoing dispute and an attempt to assert dominance. According to the complaint, a minor altercation during the celebration escalated rapidly after a birthday prank triggered an argument, following which the accused and his associates allegedly opened fire.
The victims — Manish Saini (30), Akash (19), and Amardeep Saini (32) — were relatives of a local political figure.
Authorities said the आरोपी fled after the incident, allegedly taking away crucial CCTV evidence from the premises. Several co-accused have already been arrested in separate operations, while efforts continue to apprehend others named in the case.
Police have reiterated their commitment to ensuring that all those involved are brought to justice.
