Bengaluru Stadium Security Breach: 240 CCTV Cameras Disabled on IPL Match Day

Two individuals booked for allegedly tampering with surveillance system at Chinnaswamy Stadium

Bengaluru- A major security lapse has come to light at M Chinnaswamy Stadium, where more than 240 CCTV cameras were reportedly disabled on the day of an IPL match, prompting police to register a case against two individuals.

According to officials, an FIR has been filed against Manjunath and Abdul Kalam for allegedly interfering with the stadium’s surveillance system ahead of the Royal Challengers Bengaluru versus Gujarat Titans match held on April 24. The incident occurred in Bengaluru.

The complaint was lodged by a representative of Staqu Technologies Pvt Ltd, which manages AI-based monitoring during match days. Police said the accused, believed to be linked to a subcontractor, gained unauthorised entry using a deactivated access card.

Investigators revealed that the duo allegedly accessed the CCTV control room and damaged key infrastructure, including Network Video Recorder systems and optical fibre lines. The disruption led to surveillance cameras going offline in sensitive zones such as entry gates and perimeter areas.

Officials said the sabotage was detected around late morning on match day and was rectified within an hour, ensuring that the game proceeded without interruption.

Preliminary findings suggest that the act may have been driven by a personal dispute, possibly linked to pending payments involving the subcontractor. Authorities confirmed that both accused have been identified and further legal action is underway.
