Chennai, April 24, 2026: The Indian Institute of Technology Madras has expanded its digital learning offerings by launching three new artificial intelligence courses through its SWAYAM Plus platform in collaboration with IITM Pravartak. The initiative is aimed at making foundational AI education accessible to beginners across academic and professional backgrounds.
The newly introduced courses include AI for Aspiring Engineers, AI for Administrators, and Prompt Engineering. All programmes are designed as beginner friendly modules and require no prior coding or artificial intelligence experience, making them suitable for students, working professionals, and educators.
The registration process for the courses is currently open and will close on May 10, 2026. Interested learners can apply through the official SWAYAM Plus portal.
The courses were launched at IIT Madras by Director Prof V Kamakoti during an event marking two years of the SWAYAM Plus platform. The occasion brought together stakeholders from academia, industry, government, and the learner community.
AI for Aspiring Engineers focuses on building core skills in Python, artificial intelligence, and machine learning using real world datasets. AI for Administrators is designed to help management professionals understand how AI tools can support decision making and organisational planning. The Prompt Engineering course introduces learners to effective interaction with AI systems to generate accurate outputs.
Officials said the initiative is part of the broader “AI for All” programme, which has already seen strong participation in earlier phases across multiple disciplines. The platform continues to expand its course offerings in collaboration with academic and industry partners.
IIT Madras stated that the objective is to democratise AI education and prepare a future ready workforce equipped with emerging technology skills.
