Uttar Pradesh Woos Japanese Investors With New Industrial and Technology Opportunities

Uttar Pradesh rolls out major investment opportunities as Japanese companies explore manufacturing, electronics and technology projects in the state.

New Delhi, August 19, 2026; Uttar Pradesh stepped up its efforts to deepen economic ties with Japan on Wednesday as the state government hosted the U.P.-Japan Investment Meet 2026 at Taj Palace in the national capital, bringing together more than 200 senior executives and business leaders from Japan.

The investment meet focused on expanding Japanese participation in Uttar Pradesh’s industrial, manufacturing and technology sectors and presenting the state as a competitive destination for long-term global investment.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister  Yogi Adityanath, Union Minister for Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Union Minister for Railways, Electronics and Information Technology Ashwini Vaishnaw, and Uttar Pradesh Finance and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Suresh Kumar Khanna addressed the gathering.

The discussions highlighted the changing investment landscape in Uttar Pradesh, with emphasis on infrastructure development, industrial expansion, connectivity, governance and the state’s efforts to create a more conducive environment for businesses.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said Uttar Pradesh was increasingly emerging as an important centre for industrial and economic activity, supported by expressways, airports, logistics facilities and industrial corridors. He urged Japanese businesses to expand their operations in the state and participate in its long-term development.

A key announcement at the investment meet was the proposed establishment of a dedicated Japanese City in Sector-5A of the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority area. The planned development will cover nearly 500 acres and is envisaged as an integrated zone offering industrial, commercial and residential facilities for Japanese businesses and residents.

The programme also featured virtual ground-breaking ceremonies for two major manufacturing projects planned in the YEIDA region.

Escorts Kubota Limited is set to establish a manufacturing facility on 154 acres in Sector-10 of YEIDA. The company is expected to invest around ₹2,029 crore in the project, which is projected to create approximately 4,000 jobs. The plant will have the capacity to produce about 60,000 tractors annually besides manufacturing agricultural machinery and related components.

Another major investment came from Spark Minda Group, which is developing manufacturing facilities in Sectors 10 and 24 of YEIDA. The projects involve an estimated investment of ₹1,166 crore and are expected to create nearly 6,440 employment opportunities.

The Spark Minda facilities are planned to manufacture automotive electronic products including switches, sensors and USB charging units, with an annual production capacity of nearly two million units. The project is expected to add further momentum to Uttar Pradesh’s growing automotive and electronics manufacturing base.

During the interaction with Japanese industry representatives, the state government also identified several sectors with potential for expanded India-Japan cooperation. These include green hydrogen, solar power, electronics, medical devices, automotive production, semiconductors and advanced manufacturing.

The Uttar Pradesh government said it would continue focusing on infrastructure, skilled manpower and investment facilitation to support domestic and international companies establishing operations in the state.

Senior officials present at the event included Infrastructure and Industrial Development Commissioner Deepak Kumar, YEIDA Chairman Alok Kumar, YEIDA Chief Executive Officer Rakesh Kumar Singh, and Additional Chief Executive Officer and Investment Cell Nodal Officer Shailendra Kumar Bhatia, besides representatives of Indian and Japanese companies.

The investment meet is expected to provide fresh momentum to industrial cooperation between Uttar Pradesh and Japan while creating opportunities for Japanese companies seeking to expand their manufacturing and technology footprints in India.
